Groundwater sustainability: Yolo Subbasin, California


With 250,000 acres of farmland, agricultural management is a big part of this county’s sustainability plan. Today there are more than 70,000 acres of orchards in the basin.


We are using integrated groundwater and surface water models to inform land and water management for the next 50 years.

Urban water management is a major challenge in big cities like Bengaluru, India, which gets some of its water from the Kaveri River a 100km away. And the rest from tens of thousands of private wells.


This project mapped 2 years of groundwater levels in 150 locations in the city…
